Education programmes for underprivileged children

Education for all is the necessary weapon to break the cycle of poverty. The ongoing circumstances have enforced safety and precaution regulation to avoid physical contact and spread of the Virus. Schools have stayed shut and education has moved online. Our SAKSHI education program is ensuring that children from rural and remote areas continue learning during the global pandemic even while schools are shut and they can’t go outside for schooling. We are providing e-lessons through WhatsApp to such underprivileged children. Yet there are many children whose families cannot afford smartphones. SAKSHI's teachers have reached out to all such families and taken a novel home study approach which has ensured the continuation of their studies.

SAKSHI EDUCATION CENTRE at Bhawani Enclave, Gurgaon continues its education program for the underprivileged children from marginalized communities through online classes and house to house staff visits. On 30 November we held a special session - wherein underprivileged children interacted digitally with virtual volunteers from The corporate world across the country. There were specially prepared songs, dances, plays, and interactive learning. A meal break had all involved enjoying snacks and wholesome food. The Children observed all covid protocol (wearing masks, use of Sanitizers & Social distancing) and enjoyed a day out. Kudos to the teachers who have enabled these youngsters to become so digital-savvy.

Impact of education programs initiative

Confident, educated and healthy children will be able to pursue higher education and job opportunities in the fields of their choice. They will be pillars of support for their home, parents, and the community. Gender skewing in the community will recede over time. Importantly, it also ensures that the next generation gets far better parenting and therefore a better life.

We believe that any issue you address, healthcare, poverty, employment, population, human rights, there is no better solution than education. Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life; means, because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behavior to understanding one's rights, and in the process evolve as a better citizen.
